PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle failure diagnosis system and a failure diagnosis method, capable of easily performing failure diagnoses of electronic devices mounted on various types of vehicles, without having to previously prepare diagnosis-use program nor data for respective the types of vehicles, and to provide a failure diagnosis apparatus and an in-vehicle control apparatus, which are used for the vehicle failure diagnosis system and the failure diagnosis method. SOLUTION: In the vehicle failure diagnosis system, a memory section for diagnosis 16 is disposed at an ECU 10 mounted on a vehicle 1, and data for diagnosis 20, required to perform failure diagnoses of electronic devices 5, 6 and 7 mounted on the vehicle 1, are stored therein. When the failure diagnosis apparatus 30, which is connected to the ECU 10 via a communication cable, executes a failure diagnosing program 40, the failure diagnosis program 40 acquires the data for diagnosis 20, which are stored in the memory section for diagnosis 16 of the ECU 10 and executes processings for failure diagnoses.
