WET FRICTION MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet friction material having excellent heat resistance and excellent high-temperature durability of mechanical characteristics such as interlaminar shear characteristics even without using cellulose. SOLUTION: The wet friction material is composed of components such as a fiber material, an inorganic filler and a friction regulator. In the wet friction material, aramid pulp obtained by conducting a plasma treatment of highly fibrillated aramid pulp within the range of certain specific conditions is used as the fiber material to thereby afford the wet friction material having the excellent mechanical characteristics such as the interlaminar shear characteristics.
