In some embodiments, the present invention is directed to thermoelectric devices comprising thermoelectric elements comprising nanotubes of thermoele ctric material. The present invention is also directed to methods of making such thermoelectric elements and devices, particularly wherein the nanotubes are formed electrochemically in templates.
