PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a triaxial continuously variable transmission to produce a sufficient driving force when a vehicle is in forward and when it is in reverse. SOLUTION: In the triaxial continuously variable transmission, a forward-reverse switching mechanism 3 includes a sun gear 13, a first pinion gear 23, a second pinion gear 24, and a ring gear 15. The mechanism 3 further includes a forward brake 29 for locking the rotation of the ring gear 15 when the vehicle is in forward; a reverse brake 31 for locking the rotation of a carrier 14 when the vehicle is in reverse; a forward clutch 26 for connecting the carrier 14 to the output side when the vehicle is in forward; and a reverse clutch 28 for connecting the ring gear 15 to the output side when the vehicle is in reverse.
