PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical alkaline battery enabled to greatly increase a discharge volume by heightening a volume utilization efficiency inside a cathode can, and capable of continuously being used after an explosion-proof valve function is activated, in one equipped with the explosion-proof valve function. SOLUTION: A gasket 30 is formed in a circle so as not to form a space partition, and further, a fixed conductive plate 42 is arranged so as to block an inside of the gasket 30, a venthole 331 (a first venthole) and a venthole 421 (a second venthole) are formed at an anode terminal plate 33 and the fixed conductive plate 42, respectively, so that an elastic valve body 40 is intercalated between the anode terminal plate 33 and the fixed conductive plate 42 in a state blocking the venthole 421. As the elastic valve body 40 is made elastically deformed at rise of internal pressure of the battery, a degassing route is formed by the venthole 331 and the venthole 421.
