An optical film has a thickness of from 20 to 60 mum, contains a cyclic olefin resin, and satisfies the following conditions (1) to (3): <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?>0<=Re<=75 (1) <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?> <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?>20<=Rth<=255 (2) <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?> <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?>200<=D<=1000 (3) <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?> where Re is an in-plane retardation at a wavelength of 590 nm; Rth is a retardation in a thickness direction at a wavelength of 590 nm; and D is a moisture permeability at 40° C. and 90% RH.
