The method involves moving print substrates e.g. curved print substrates, one after another by several printing units for applying partial printing images in different print colors on the printed substrate. Each of the printing units exhibits a color deck (6). A color inking roller of color deck of one of the printing units is operated opposite to corresponding color inking roller of color deck of the other printing unit with differing circumferential speeds. An independent claim is also included for a printing machine e.g. sheet fed printing machine, with multiple printing units.
