BACKLIGHT ASSEMBLY AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAVING THE SAME

A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to form heat emitting structures of various types in a lower receiving member of the backlight assembly, thereby improving emission of the heat emitted from a light source unit. A backlight assembly comprises a light source unit(400), a light guide plate(500), a reflection plate(600), plural optical sheets(700), a mold frame(800) and a lower receiving member. The light source unit comprises a PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(410) and plural LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes)(450) mounted in one side of the PCB. The receiving member comprises a base plate(901) and plural side walls bent and prolonged from the base plate. The receiving member receives the light source unit. In an area where the light source unit is disposed among areas of the receiving member, plural through holes(910) are formed. The light source unit includes a heat emitting pad(420) attached to the other side of the PCB.
