PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerating device capable of accelerating a flying body by allowing a large current to flow without being limited by the structure of an external coil, and reducing a current to flow to a system for accumulating energy in the external coil. SOLUTION: A series connecting switch 51 is turned on in the off state of a parallel connecting switch 52 to accumulate energy in inductive energy accumulating coils (5-1 to 5-N) with an exciting current Iin. The parallel connecting switch 52 is then turned on, and the series connecting switch 51 is turned off to supply an output current Io=Iin×N to a first rail electrode 2a, an armature 4a and a second rail electrode 2b from the inductive energy accumulating coils (5-1 to 5-N). The flying body 4b can be accelerated with the large current N-times as large as the exciting current Iin. The exciting current Iin of the inductive energy accumulating coils (5-1 to 5-N) can be made 1/N times as large as the output current Io. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
