LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, OPTICAL FILM AND TERMINAL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display having excellent viewing angle characteristics when being obliquely viewed even though descriptions of used retardation plates are reduced.

SOLUTION: Absorption axes of first and second polarizing plates 21 and 20 are nearly orthogonal to each other and slow axes of first and third retardation plates 24 and 22 are nearly orthogonal to each other. The first and the third retardation plates 24 and 22 have retardation values nearly equal to each other. The first and the third retardation plates 24 and 22 have Nz coefficients nearly equal to each other. A slow axis of a second retardation plate 23 is nearly orthogonal to an alignment axis of a liquid crystal layer 25a in a transmission display region 15. The second retardation plate 23 and the liquid crystal layer 25a in the transmission display region 15 have retardation values nearly equal to each other.
