PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for detecting a moving object, having less dispersion in the detection output and high sensitivity, by making the width of direction of pinned layer magnetization of the magnetic resistive effect film of an SV-GMR element 20μm or larger, in the device that uses the spin-valve giant magnetoresistive element (SV-GMR element). SOLUTION: The device for detecting the moving object has a gear 1 as the magnetic material moving object, the SV-GMR elements R1-R4 arranged facing on the outer peripheral surface, and a bias magnet 5 that applies a bias magnetic field on the SV-GMR element. The device makes the width in the direction of the pin layer magnetization of the magnetoresistive effect film pattern that the SV-GMR element has to be 20μm or larger. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
