PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission in which oil is prevented from being leaked from an oil chamber formed in the rear surface of a disk by surely securing the interference of a seal member even if the disk in the vertical attitude is tilted relative to an input shaft. SOLUTION: This toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises the input shaft 2, the disk 3 axially movably connected to the input shaft 2 and having a concave raceway surface 3b on one surface, and a hydraulic cylinder device having a cylinder 9 covering the rear surface of the disk 3 on the opposite side of the raceway surface and the outer peripheral surface of the disk 3 and forming the hydraulic chamber 9a between itself and the rear surface of the disk 3. A seal receiving surface 22 opposed to the rear surface of the disk 3 is formed on the cylinder 9 on the outer peripheral side of the oil chamber 9a. An O-ring 24 sealing the outer peripheral side of the oil chamber 9a is installed between the seal receiving surface 22 and the rear surface of the disk 3. A restraining part (contact member) 27 restraining the movement of the disk 3 in the direction separating from the seal receiving surface 22 is formed on the cylinder 9 on the outer peripheral side of the disk 3.
