The gabion wall (1) has rectangular wire baskets (2) arranged next to each other and one above the other, and a natural stone layering (6), which is held in the wire baskets. A monolithic concrete core (4) extends over an entire length of the wall in an interior of the wall. The concrete core is enclosed by the stone layering and a filler material layering (7). The core has an irregular, uneven side surface that is impressed by the stone layering. The core has a porous aggregate. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a gabion wall.
