<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely cope with illegal attack such as illegally opening a cover. <P>SOLUTION: A dead lock means 20 of the electric steering lock device 1 having a drive mechanism part on a frame 2 covered by the cover 3 is equipped with a fitting hole 21 provided on a lock rod 14, a rock pin 23 arranged on the frame 2 side and energized to a lock position side fitted to the fitting hole 21, and a trigger member 25 fixed on the cover 3 and preventing movement of the rock pin 23 to the lock position.
