摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wall-surface expansion joint which can resist strong wind pressure in normal cases, and which eliminates the risk of inhibiting the smooth relative displacement of a base-isolating layer during earthquakes. SOLUTION: An expansion joint panel 25 for concealing a gap between exterior walls W1 and W2 of both skeletons is pivotally attached in such a manner as to be oscillatable via a hinge mechanism 24, in either of the main-body skeleton 1, and the skeleton 2 as a mass damper which is separated from a main body by a base-isolating device so as to be planarly and relatively displaced. The panel 25 and the hinge mechanism-side skeleton are pivotally supported and connected together by an expansion device such as a hydraulic cylinder device 26. A locking mechanism 4, which can switch between the locked state of inhibiting the expansion/contraction of the expansion device and the unlocked state of allowing the expansion/contraction of it, is provided. In the normal cases, the panel 25 is prefixed by means of the expansion device which is put into the locked state. On the occurrence of the earthquakes, an earthquake sensor S detects the earthquakes with seismic intensity equivalent to/exceeding set seismic intensity. This makes the locking mechanism switched to the unlocked state from the locked one, so that the fixing of the panel 25 by the expansion device can be released. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
