PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the temperature of a refrigerant discharged from a compression part without being affected by the variable factors present around the compression part. SOLUTION: This rotary compressor 1 comprises a motor 6 and the compression part 3 which are contained in an airtight container 2 and a discharge tube 26 provided at the upper part of the airtight container 2 and discharging the refrigerant compressed by the compression part 3 to the outside of the airtight container 2. The rotary compressor further comprises a refrigerant discharge part 462 for discharging the compressed refrigerant generated by the compression part 3 toward the inner peripheral surface of the airtight container 2, and disposes a discharge temperature sensor 20 for detecting the temperature of the discharged compressed refrigerant on the outer peripheral side of the airtight container 2 at the portion opposed to the refrigerant discharge part 462.
