The network (1) has two sub-networks (2, 3), where each sub-network has an engine (7) driving a propeller (8) of the submarine as an energy consumer. A battery (6) e.g. lithium-polymer battery, includes parallel switched battery groups (10) consisting of strands of high power energy storage battery cells. A slope control limiting protective element is switched in each of the strands. Another slope control limiting protective element (22, 23) i.e. high temperature superconductor (HTS) current limiter, is provided for limiting total short-circuit current of the groups.
