A monitoring camera device that is water-proofed and whose focusing can be adjusted when a dome cover is installed on it. A lens (3) is covered by the removable dome cover (5). A focus adjustment mechanism (9) performs focus adjustment by moving an imaging element (7) in the optical axis direction. A setting button (13) that is a focus setting/operation section is placed on the inner side of the dome cover (5) and is operated when the dome cover (5) is installed. A control section (11) controls the focus adjustment mechanism (9). The control section (11) allows the focus adjustment mechanism (9) to start focus adjustment when a predetermined focus start waiting time elapses after the setting button (13) is operated. The focus start waiting time is a time set according to a standard installation work time required to install the dome cover (5).
