An apparatus and a method for battery control of a mobile device are provided to minimize discharged power and extend usage time of the mobile device by blocking power in a sleep mode and applying power according to input of a predetermined key. An apparatus for battery control of a mobile device(200) includes a main unit(250), a power supply control unit(220), and a key signal generation unit(210). The main unit performs various functions with power from a battery(230). The power supply control unit supplies the power of the battery to main unit or blocks the power. The key signal generation unit outputs a power-on-key signal for controlling the power of the battery to be supplied to the main unit, to the power supply control unit. The main unit outputs a power-off-signal for controlling the battery and the main unit connected by the power-on-key signal to be disconnected, to the power supply control unit.
