PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a desired high-purity (meth)acrylic ester containing a slight amount of a feedstock alcohol and (meth)acrylate by transesterification without the need of any complicated rectification step or thermal splitting step. SOLUTION: The method for producing the (meth)acrylic ester by transesterification reaction is characterized by comprising the following process wherein, using an organotin compound as a transesterification catalyst, a feedstock (meth)acrylic ester and a feedstock alcohol are subjected to the transesterification reaction with each other in the presence of the organotin compound, and the resultant reaction mixture is distilled in the presence of water.
