PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake emergency operation system for elevator capable of reducing the occurrence of passengers being confined in the event of earthquake and a damage of intra-shaft apparatus caused by such a long-period tremor that S-wave seismograph is not actuated. SOLUTION: The earthquake emergency operation system for elevator is equipped with an elevator control device 1 to perform the earthquake emergency operation, an elevator monitoring device 12 having a character information producing part 15 to convert the seismic information into character information, a display control device 17 which produces image data by superimposing the character information concerning the seismic information into any image data stored previously and emits the image data in the form of video signals, and a display 18 installed at a hall and indicating the image data in the form of video signals, and when a P-wave seismograph 4 is actuated or seismic information is received from an emergency prompt notification system 6 for earthquake, a message to ask the passenger(s) to refrain from using the elevator is indicated in the display in the form of character information together with earthquake occurrence information.
