PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool which has high chipping-resistance and scarcely a defect chipping and suffers from. SOLUTION: A first coated layer 3 and a second coated layer 4 consisting of columnar crystals and growing slantly by a mean angle of 1-15 degrees to the direction perpendicular to the surface of a base body are sequentially coated on the surface of the base body 2. Even if an impact applied to a hard coating layer 5, the force transmitted through the second coating layer 4 is distributed and scarcely transmitted and propagated to the first coated layer 3.
