[Class 75 (iv)] In a searchlight a ribbed radiator for cooling a liquid absorbing heat from the light source is formed as part of the casing of the searchlight. Heat from a super-pressure mercury vapour lamp 1 is absorbed by a liquid circulating in a system including a chamber 3 partly surrounding the source, a pump 9 driven by a motor 10 and a chamber 4 the outer wall of which is provided with ribs 5 and serves as the outer wall of the cylindrical body of the searchlight. The liquid circulation path may be increased by means of partitions within the chamber 4. The rear wall of the glass bulb 2 enclosing the source is mirrorsurfaced. |
