<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear light source device capable of preventing uneven luminance by making uniform light enter into a light guide plate for a large screen size, and easily adaptable to various screen sizes. <P>SOLUTION: This linear light source device is equipped with a plurality of linear light source parts 110 in each of which a long insulating substrate 1,110 is loaded with a light emitting element 1,120, and a holding frame 120 for housing the plurality of linear light source parts 110 severally and linearly arranging them along the side of a light guide plate.
