<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-sided lighting device for a display element and a double-sided display element adopting the same. <P>SOLUTION: The double-sided lighting device is provided with a light source 32, an isotropic light guide plate 31 having an incident surface 31a where light from the light source enters, a counter light surface 31b to face the light incident surface, and an upper surface 31c as well as a lower surface 31d which cross the incident light surface and the counter light surface at right angles and from which light is emitted, respectively, isotropic fine structures 33 which are formed on the upper surface and the lower surface, and a first anisotropic layer 34 as well as a second anisotropic layer 35 formed on the upper surface and the lower surface covering the isotropic fine structures. The first anisotropic layer and the second anisotropic layer have different refractive indices against light having a first polarized light element and a second polarized light element which are perpendicular to each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
