PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a ring transmission device and a signal processing method of a ring transmission device which have redundancy configuration and also richness of extensibility. SOLUTION: In a first ring 202 side of an optical ring network, there are provided a first ring side time division multiplex device 203 and a first packet ring device 207 mounted independently from this device. In a client network 211 side, there are provided a first client side time division multiplex device 212 and a first packet transceiver 214 mounted independently from these devices which are connected with these devices 203 and 207 via a switch part 206 equipped with a packet switch 209 and a time division multiplex switch 210. Furthermore, an optical ring transmission device 200 is doubled by existence of a device used as a pair of second packet ring devices 208 and the like.
