Provided is a drive circuit for applying a voltage to a capacitive load of a plasma display panel. The drive circuit comprises a clamp circuit for clamping the electrode of the capacitive load to a first voltage or a second voltage, a coil circuit connected at its one end with the electrode of the capacitive load, a power recovery condenser connected at its one electrode with the other end of the coil circuit, and a superposed voltage circuit for applying a superposed voltage to the second electrode of the power recovery condenser. When the capacitive load is charged or discharged by the resonance of the capacitive load and the coil circuit, the superposed voltage is applied to the second electrode of the power recovery condenser so that the ultimate potential in the resonance can be properly controlled to reduce the heat liberation and the radiation noise of an element.
