The tensioner (1) has a clamping arm (8) swivelable against a rotary fixed component (3) i.e. housing, and provided with a clamping roll (24) that is swivelably supported at a free end. The roll is sprung out against a belt of a belt drive, where the arm has a hub (7) supported on a pin (9) of the component. A spiral spring (2) has a radial inner end (11) fixed at the hub and a partial complementarily designed radial outer end fixed at a stopper (6) of the component. The hub is designed as square in cross section, on which the radial inner end is fixed in a form fit manner.
