In order to provide an imaging apparatus where a movable lens can be driven to an appropriate position while having a compact arrangement, a moving tube (22) holding an imaging lens (10) is latched at a first position, i.e. one end of its movable stroke, by means of a lens mount (24) and thereby the distance to an image sensor (51) on the optical axis can be set to an appropriate value thus ensuring appropriate photography which is in focus. On the other hand, an actuator (30) is driven by an actuator driver (31) based on information stored in an EEPROM (32), and since the imaging lens (10) is stopped at a third position between a second position, i.e. the other end of its movable stroke, adjustment of mechanism is not required at the third position for installation and assembling performance of the imaging apparatus (50) is enhanced.
