An apparatus (100) for creating a visual display. The apparatus (100) includes a mirror element (122) and a framing element (120). The mirror element (122) has a curved reflective surface (128) and a printed primary image (129) contacting the reflective surface (128). The framing element (120) is spaced apart from the mirror element (122) and includes a background image element (144) positioned to face toward the reflective surface (128). The framing element (122) also includes a transparent view port (138) that is positioned opposite the primary image (129) so as to provide a line of sight through the framing element (120) to the reflective surface (128) and the primary image (129). The apparatus (100) further includes a lens (112) sandwiched between the mirror and framing elements (122, 120), such as a lens with a cylindrical body, formed of a transparent or translucent plastic, ceramic, glass, or other material. The apparatus (100) may include a light source that transmits light into the lens (112) or onto the primary image (129) or the background images (144).
