PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lengthen the service life of a rolling bearing so as not to develop the detachment caused by tangential force on the rolling surface of the rolling bearing component member with the consideration of a cooling method in the hardening time. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the rolling bearing component member, in which an inner ring, an outer ring or a rolling body of the rolling bearing is manufacture by applying heat-treatment including the hardening and a tempering after working the basic material composed of steel into a prescribed shape; as a cooling medium in the quenching time, an ionic liquid is used.
