PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent double feeding when sending out paper and documents, and to improve workability when setting the paper and documents at a prescribed position. SOLUTION: An automatic document feeder sends out the uppermost layer of the documents in the order by a paper feeding roller in a state of a bundle of the documents set in a document tray 202. A pad 220 is provided in the depth of a loading base 204. When sending out the documents, the double feeding is prevented by the pad 220. Guide ribs 222 are projected on both sides of the pad 220. The guide ribs 222 prevent end parts of the documents from being caught by the pad 220 when setting the bundle of the documents to the loading base 204. Since the guide ribs 222 are fixed, the guide ribs 222 are hidden in a lower side of the loading base 204 when the loading base 204 is raised. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
