An insulating tube includes a tubular heat-protection layer (1), a first insulating layer (2) with silicon, a barrier layer (3) and an optional second insulating layer (5) with a resin. First and second insulating layers consist of different materials. The barrier layer is designed so that it is impervious to the material of the first and second insulating layers or to constituents of them. The barrier layer is impregnated/saturated. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing an insulating tube.
