A method and apparatus for processing feedback implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprises estimating a channel matrix. The effe ctive channel is calculated and a precoding matrix is selected. Feedback bit s are generated and transmitted. The feedback bits relate to non-differentia l or differential feedback or a combination thereof, or the feedback is a bi nary sign bit alone or in combination with non-differential feedback.
