A composition comprising the extract of Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner is provided to inhibit melanin formation, activity of tyrosinase and production of lipid peroxide, and increase survival rate of keratinocyte and synthesis of collagen, so that the composition is useful for skin whitening, aging prevention and wrinkle improvement. A skin-whitening, anti-aging and anti-wrinkle composition comprises 0.0001-20 wt.% of the extract of Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner which is prepared by extracting with purified water, C1-C4 lower alcohol or propylene glycol, ethyl acetate, butylenes glycol, ether or chloroform and is a pharmaceutical composition having a formulation of cream, gel, patch, spray, ointment, plaster, lotion, liniment, pasta or cataplasma or a cosmetic composition having a formulation of skin lotion, skin softener, skin toner, astringent, lotion, milk lotion, moisture lotion, nutrition lotion, massage cream, nutrition cream, moisture cream, hand cream, foundation, essence, nutrition essence, pack, soap, cleansing foam, cleansing lotion, cleansing cream, body lotion or body cleanser, wherein the daily dosage of the Nelumbo nucifera Gaertner extract is 0.0001-100 mg/kg.
