<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which has an improved detection rate of a particular object such as a face and enables the power consumption thereof to be reduced, and to provide an imaging control method. <P>SOLUTION: When a through image is displayed on an image display device 26 when a face detection function is set in off, a CPU 10 controls a vertical synchronizing signal to be added to a vertical driver 36V to set a CCD driving mode to a through image reading mode, and the number of horizontal lines to be read out of a CCD 36 is thinned to 1/8. When the face detection function is set to on, the CPU 10 controls the vertical synchronizing signal to be added to the vertical driver 36V to switch the CCD driving mode to a high-resolution mode, and the number of horizontal lines to be read out of the CCD 36 is thinned to 1/4. When the face detection function is switched from on to off, the CPU 10 controls the vertical synchronization signal to be added to the vertical driver 36 V to switch the CCD driving mode to a through image reading mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
