<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of preventing image disturbance, such as transfer omission, by a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a secondary transfer device (transfer means) 17 for transferring a toner image to a transfer material S; a fixing device (fixing means) 23 for fixing a toner image transferred to a transfer material S by the secondary transfer device 17; a control section (fixing temperature control means) 50 for controlling the fixing temperature of the fixing device 23; and transfer material detection sensors (means for detecting a quantity of bend) 51a to 51c for detecting a quantity of bend in the transfer material S conveyed. The secondary transfer device 17 conveys the transfer material S with a toner image transferred thereto toward the fixing device 23. The transfer material detection sensors 51a to 51c are disposed between the secondary transfer device 17 and the fixing device 23.
