<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light roll easy to be exchanged, easy to be handled in transportation with good workability, and restricted in danger in a fall thereof. <P>SOLUTION: This roll 1 is formed with the peripheral layer 4 outside a cylindrical carbon core, and the surface of the peripheral layer is used as a printing or coating plate surface or a guiding or transporting guide surface. In this case, a reinforcing layer can be formed between the inside or/and the outside of the core and the peripheral layer.
