<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber coil storage container that can store therein with a simple structure a pigtail optical fiber having an optical connector for directly connecting to external optical equipment and that can store the extra portion of the fiber and draw it out each with an arbitrary length, and also to provide an optical fiber module using this storage container. <P>SOLUTION: The storage container includes a first storage 17a that stores an optical fiber coil 20 composed of a functional optical fiber and a second storage 17b that stores, by winding on the outer periphery of the first storage, the extra length of the pigtail optical fiber 15 optically connected to the functional optical fiber, wherein the second storage is provided with a gap 14 over the entire circumference communicative externally.
