An antiglare film and antiglare sheet that can provide an image display apparatus excelling in contrast while maintaining excellent antiglare performance; and a convenient process for producing them. In the antiglare film, the rugged configuration along a first direction is substantially different from that along the second direction orthogonal to the first direction. Preferably, the average gradient angle, ?a₁, of the rugged configuration along the first direction is greater than the average gradient angle, ?a₂, of the rugged configuration along the second direction. Still preferably, the difference between the average gradient angle ?a₁ and the average gradient angle ?a₂, ??a=?a₁-?a₂, is in the range of 0.5° to 30°.
