A shift fork position detecting device for a manual transmission is provided. The manual transmission includes a coupling sleeve (2) constituting a synchronizer, a shift fork (1) movable with the coupling sleeve (2) and an actuator (5) for moving the shift fork (1). The actuator (5) has a stationary main body (9a) and a reciprocal output member (6) operatively connected to the shift fork (1). The shift fork position detecting device includes a magnet (7) mounted on the output member (6) of the actuator (5), and a magnetic sensor (8) mounted on the main body (9) of the actuator (9) to cooperate with the magnet (7) for detecting the position of the shift fork (1).
