PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an expiration date for an electronic money function formed in an IC chip while validating a money value stored in the IC chip before the expiration date.

SOLUTION: In conjunction with an amount change information sending apparatus, an IC card 6 has an electronic money function and a credit card function. The IC card 6 can be used as an electronic money card when the electronic money function is used. The IC card 6 can also be used as a credit card when the credit card function is used. An expiration date is set for the credit card function of the IC card 6. An electronic money terminal 8 charges the electronic money function of the IC card 6 before the expiration date but does not charge it past the expiration date. This can promote the discard of the IC card 6 upon the expiration of the credit card function.
