<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a management server to conveniently update a monitoring function of a monitoring device which monitors a device connected via a network. <P>SOLUTION: In S401, the monitoring device 102 inquires of the management server 106 whether or not there is a command request to be executed. Then in S402, on the basis of the result of inquiry in the S401, it is judged whether or not an update request of a list in the command request to be executed is performed from the management server 106.
