PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article management method capable of facilitating position detection of the article and suppressing introduction cost concerning position detection of the article. SOLUTION: The article management method has a first RF chip stuck on the article; a first reader/writer for performing transmitting/receiving of a signal with the first RF chip; a common memory part and a second RF chip assembled to the first reader/writer; and a second reader/writer for performing transmitting/receiving of a signal with the second RF chip. The first reader/writer obtains individual information of the first RF chip, the common memory retains the individual information of the first RF chip obtained by the first reader/writer, and the second RF chip reads out the individual information of the first RF chip retained in the common memory part. The reader/writer obtains the individual information of the first RF chip and the individual information of the second RF chip by the second RF chip and obtains the position information of the second RF chip.
