PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Ti-Al-Fe-V-Mo-based and Ti-Al-Fe-V-Mo-Zr basedβ-type titanium alloys which have stable aging characteristics by reducing the affects of component segregation that occurs when a large amount of Fe which is a relatively inexpensiveβstabilization element is added to the titanium alloy. SOLUTION: Theβ-type titanium alloy includes Al, Fe, V and Mo, in respective ranges of, by mass%, 2 to 5%, 2.5 to 4.5%, 6 to 10% and 6.5 to 10%, and the balance substantially Ti; and includes Al, Fe, V and Mo preferably in respective ranges of 2 to 4%, 2.8 to 4.2%, 8.6 to 10% and 8.6 to 10%. Furthermore, the titanium alloy has further enhanced tensile strength before aging heat treatment, by controlling the oxygen equivalent Q to 0.15 to 0.30, or by keeping the state in as work-hardened state, or by applying both of the operations to the alloy. Thereby, the titanium alloy can acquire necessary strength even though anαphase having high Young's modulus is precipitated little. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
