PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a cellulose carbamate derivative suppressing production of a by-product, to obtain a cellulose carbamate derivative by the synthesis method, to provide a method for purifying a cellulose carbamate derivative and to obtain a cellulose carbamate derivative by the purification method. SOLUTION: The method for synthesizing a cellulose carbamate derivative comprises using a cellulose having a water content of≤7 wt.% in reacting a cellulose with an isocyanate-based compound in the presence of a basic catalyst to give a cellulose carbamate derivative.
