PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording and reproducing apparatus which continuously reproduces only a moving image file, a music file or a still picture file for each group when reproducing a file of recording medium with files of various forms, such as the moving image file, the music file or the still picture file recorded thereon. SOLUTION: When group reproduction is selected in a setting screen, a selection screen for type-based/extension-based reproduction is displayed. When type-based reproduction is selected, moving image/still picture/music selection screens are displayed. Then if the moving image is selected for example, only the moving image files are extracted from the recording medium, moving image filenames are listed in order and a moving image reproduction list is created, and are stored in a flash memory. Then the moving image files are read from the recording medium according to the moving image reproduction list, and the moving image files is continuously reproduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
