PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently converting oils and fats into methyl ketones that cannot interfere with the growth of microorganisms, even if oils and fats are contained at high concentration in a culture medium, in a method for producing methyl ketones by the microorganisms. SOLUTION: The method for producing the methyl ketone includes a step of innoculating a solid culture product of fungi, capable of producing the methyl ketone, into a liquid culture medium to carry out culturing. Pellet-like micelia are formed so as to provide an average diameter of 0.5-3 mm. The oils and fats in amount of twice or more, in terms of weight ratio to the liquid culture medium, is then added thereto to perform culturing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
