In a wireless communication system comprising a base station and terminals that use a plurality of frequency bands to communicate with each other, each of the terminals determines a wireless channel quality for each of the frequency bands and notifies it to the base station. The base station decides, based on the notification from each terminal, a frequency band to be used by each terminal. The base station then groups the terminals based on the differences or the like of the frequency bands to be used by the terminals, and notifies the terminals of to which terminal groups they belong. Each terminal sets, based on the notification from the base station, the frequency band to be used by that terminal and the terminal group to which that terminal belongs, and determines a wireless channel quality of the notified frequency band to be used. A result of the determination is notified to the base station. The base station performs, based on the wireless channel qualities related to the frequency bands to be used by the terminals, a scheduling for each of the frequency bands to be used, thereby starting communication with the terminals. |
