A molded product having a phase separation structure formed by photo-polymerizing photo-polymerization components and imparting a sharp diffraction spot with a high diffraction efficiency, and a production method thereof. The molded product (1) comprises a matrix (2) and a plurality of columnar structures (3) provided in the matrix (2) and being different in refractive index from the matrix (2), wherein, in an angle spectrum obtained when a laser beam having an intensity distribution of standard normal distribution and a half width of the intensity distribution of 0.5° is applied, the half width of a diffraction spot is up to 0.6° and a diffraction efficiency is at least 10%. The plurality of columnar structures (3) are oriented almost in the same direction, and are arranged in a regular lattice form on a plane perpendicular to the orientation direction.
